Curiosity Lab’s Latest Partnership Looks To Bring Taiwanese Startups To Town
The City of Peachtree Corners is looking to pave new roads between the startup communities in Atlanta and Taiwan.
Curiosity Lab, the city’s innovation park focused on smart cities and mobility technologies, is partnering with Startup Terrace, an entrepreneurial hub supported by the Taiwanese government and organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs.
The partnership is a natural fit for a city that is so focused on innovation, Mayor Mike Mason said during the virtual launch event and MOU signing earlier this year.
Brian Johnson, Peachtree Corners’ City Manager, described the partnership as one designed to provide a “soft landing” for Taiwanese startups looking to launch in the United States and in the Metro Atlanta area.
Anita Chen, partnership manager at Startup Terrace, added: “never has the demand for continuous innovation and sustainable entrepreneurship been more momentous. Startup Terrace is dedicated to being the largest international startup and innovation cluster in Taiwan. Curiosity Lab at Peachtree Corners is a living lab designed to provide a world-class and real-world demo site to the next generation of intelligent mobility and smart city technology. We cannot be more excited to strengthen the bridge between the two sites.”
Curiosity Labs has a history of international collaboration. Startups from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia have opened up offices at the innovation park in order to test mobility-related ideas and collaborate with partners like T-Mobile, UPS, Georgia Power, and Bosch. Last year, the French-American Chamber of Commerce moved its operations to Peachtree Corners to further solidify opportunities with emerging tech companies in the area.
During the event with Startup Terrace, five promising Taiwanese tech startups pitched their ideas on the future of mobility. Those startups include:
DUGAA Systems: A machine-learning startup focusing on supply chain traceability and helping companies gain more visibility into the lifecycle of their products
Noodoe EV: With the goal of making the EV charging experience more friendly, Noodoe EV is building a network operating system and charging stations for parking lots
OmniEyes: An AI startup focused on improving the safety and efficiency of commercial fleets on the roads
Turing Drive: An autonomous vehicle testing, deployment, and operation startup with a current focus on busses and golf carts
YenProtek Technology LTD: An IoT (internet of things) startup with projects ranging from smart agriculture to traffic management.
