Charles Shapiro

Charles Shapiro Ambassador (ret.) Charles Shapiro joined Pendleton Group in March 2022. Shapiro is convinced that Atlanta’s business is international business.

At the U.S. Department of State, Shapiro held a number of senior positions including Ambassador to Venezuela, acting assistant secretary for the Western Hemisphere, and Coordinator for Cuban Affairs.  In 2011 Shapiro became the president of the Institute of the Americas, a think tank at the University of San Diego California. For the last seven years he has been president of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta, his home town.  While at the World Affairs Council, he taught international business at the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University.

Shapiro’s op-eds have been published in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Miami Herald, the San Diego Union Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.

Shapiro serves on the Board of Trustees of Agnes Scott College.
